Carla Herrador

Carla Herrador started her dance career at the University of Calgary, which led to a serendipitous discovery of West African dance. She then studied dance, music and Guinean culture in West Africa from 2002-2005. After focusing on her young family, Carla is now the executive director of Tounkara Dance and Drum – a professional performing dance company. She invites African artists to Calgary and facilitates workshops to help ensure the integrity of the art form. Teaching dance is her first love and she passionately shares her love of dance and music to her students.
