Born and raised in Grande Prairie, AB, Jaime grew up taking Jazz and Tap classes at the Deborah Judt School of Dance. After relocating to Calgary in 2005 she fell in love with the art of Middle Eastern and North African Dance (MENA Dance AKA Belly Dance) and found amazing mentors such as Zenya Horricks (Goddessdance Bellydance) and Christy Greene (Maya/Eighth Wonder). MENA Dance taught Jaime to dance from the inside out and how important it is to understand and honor the roots of every dance form. You may notice a world fusion flavor to her style as she is moved by dances from all over the world, especially Cuban Styles. An impactful part of Jaime’s dance journey was studying and teaching dance at Decidedly Jazz Danceworks recreational programs for 10+ years. Dedicated to her study of Dance, Jaime has taken workshops with and been inspired by many masters, traveled to study different forms of world dance and also became certified as both a Dancing for Birth instructor (Pre-Natal/Postpartum Dance) and a SEEDS Instructor (Self-Esteem, Empowerment & Education through Dance). Jaime’s focus as a teacher and performer is to spread happiness, encourage self love and celebrate these awesome bodies we have because they are our vessel for joy.
